Bokeh Game Studio director is focused on Slitterhead, but doesn’t rule out going back to his roots
We have all had quite a few more than we would like to be aware of whether or not there will be a new Silent Hill, whether Kojima makes a horror game or whether Konami decides to remember that it has legendary franchises within it. At the moment we have only taken sticks, but over time quite worthy “spiritual successors” of Silent Hill have appeared. Next up seems to be Keiichiro Toyama’s new Slitterhead .
For those who don’t know, Toyama is the original creator of Silent Hill and is remembered by all for directing other beloved works such as Siren or Gravity Rush (of which he would certainly like to make a new installment) . In a Q&A session posted by his new company, Bokeh Game Studio , the creative talked about the possibilities of doing something similar to his magnum opus again. What will he have said?
Toyama-sensei might go back to his roots in the future
- Keiichiro Toyama stated that he would love to redevelop a Silent Hill-style classic psychological horror game ❗
- The problem is that that desire will let him run for a while, since he wants to focus on making games with a focus on action first 🤔
- This decision is due to the fact that Toyama prefers to make “author games” like Silent Hill when he has a tighter budget and possibilities , but in Bokeh they have the capacity to go further and offer good experiences of action and terror.
- As a last hopeful message, the director commented that one day he wants to do a more personal project ✅
Until Keiichiro Toyama and his team decide to return to their roots, we will have to wait and see what they offer us with Slitterhead , a video game that looks quite curious and that I think deserves a lot of attention. This work will be released in 2023 and can be played on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
