FINAL FANTASY XIV ON XBOX STILL STANDS
In conversations with the Game Watch portal, the director recognized with laughter his promise from 3 years ago and assured that there is still a commitment to bring Final Fantasy XI V to Xbox platforms. Unfortunately, he refrained from revealing any more information about it.
“Certainly, we announced it. We still don’t give up. This is a commitment from Microsoft and Square Enix to gamers and we will coordinate our efforts,” said Phil Spencer.
In 2021, Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV , stated that plans are still in place to bring the popular MMORPG to Xbox platforms . At the time, he revealed that he is still in talks with Microsoft and that he believes those talks are on the right track, but he declined to share any further details.
Square Enix commented in 2019 that the absence of the multiplayer title on Xbox is due to certain platform restrictions regarding cross-play. “To play an MMORPG on Xbox, there are 2 regulations that stand in the way of making cross-play feasible,” Naoki Yoshida commented.
