Ubisoft’s free sports game would not have managed to attract the public and there is already talk of its cancellation, just two months after its launch.
Roller Champions, Ubisoft’s free-to- play sports game, will stop receiving content very soon and its online services may be shut down. The title was released on May 25 on consoles and PC, but it seems that it has not gotten the expected support in this time. At the moment there is no official announcement but the information comes from the well-knowninsider Jeff Grubb.
In an Xbox Era talk, Grubb mentions that ” Roller Champions will be canceled after Season 3″ , an unexpected news, not so much because of its small community – it has not managed to attract many players – but because of the speed with which it has happened the abandonment of a game announced in 2019.
In recent weeks Roller Champions has received various content and according to the company’s last talk to investors it was doing better than Hyper Scape, the battle royale canceled this year. However, that would not be enough to maintain the project in the medium and long term, and these days it barely accumulates 100 viewers on Twitch.
Ubisoft has recently confirmed the cancellation of Ghost Recon Frontline , Splinter Cell VR and two other unannounced games , so it seems clear that it is not willing to spend resources on games that do not demonstrate their commercial success.
