The Swedish game publisher, Embracer Group, announced that it is creating an archive that already has 50,000 games and related accessories.
If any of you can imagine the sky of every gaming fan, the Games Archive could be such a place. Embracer Group, a huge conglomerate formerly known as THQ Nordic AB, recently announced an initiative to archive and save as many video games and related products as possible.
The idea of the project
Our mission is to get a physical copy of every game that has ever been released . We know this is a tremendously difficult task as games are still being released physically and we hope that won’t change. We believe that this is a lofty goal that is important and exemplary to preserve our shared gaming history , reads the information on the Embracer official website.

According to the Embracer group on its website, the next stage in the development of the Karlstad archive will be cooperation with museums as well as scientists and journalists who will also want to research the history of games. Finally, the company wants to display part of the archive locally and through exhibitions in other locations .
Not only archiving
In addition to replenishing a warehouse filled with tens of thousands of games, the Embracer group also deals in purchasing game studios and intellectual property . The company recently announced the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montreal and Eidos Montreal from Square Enix. The Swedish corporation also acquired several brands, including Deus Ex , Tomb Raider and Thief
