The ‘insider’ Tom Henderson ensures that the study responsible for Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil is working on an adventure with elements of ‘Ori and the Blind Forest’.
The Prince of Persia will be back soon with a game that will presumably look to its origins, 2D platform adventures , rather than titles like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time . The information comes from insider Tom Henderson , who assures in the Xfire media that Ubisoft Montpellier is creating a new game in the series inspired by Ori and the Blind Forest . Ubisoft has not commented on this information, so despite the leaker’s success history, it is advisable to take it with a grain of salt.
Henderson says the project is being handled by the Montpellier-based team at Ubisoft, the same studio responsible for Rayman Origins , Beyond Good & Evil , and Valiant Hearts: The Great War . Officially they continue to develop Beyond Good & Evil 2 , although we haven’t heard anything about that project for a long time. Other teams from the international developer would be collaborating in the development.
An insider source says the game is picking up ” Ori inspiration, “ referring to Moon Studio’s two-dimensional platform adventures: Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps . The new Prince of Persia will be 2.5D (ie side scrolling with 3D backgrounds). Its title and approximate release date are unknown.
It is not the first time that there is talk of a new two-dimensional Prince of Persia . Insider Nick Shpeshal , co-founder of Xbox Era , said in August 2021 that he had heard of this title. He added that Jordan Mencher, creator of the saga, is involved in the creation of the title. His last job in the industry was the game design and script for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time .
“Possibly” will be released before the remake of The Sands of Time
Tom Henderson reasons that “possibly” Ubisoft is waiting to release this two-dimensional Prince of Persia before Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake , the co-production of the French firm’s Pune and Mumbai teams. Said title was delayed until 2022 (it was revealed in September 2020), and according to insider sources , “the game needed to be reviewed after the disappointment of the fans” with the gameplay shown.
Henderson’s information collects multiple Ubisoft productions. In addition to that Assassin’s Creed Rift plus content and supposedly going back to stealth, they’re also reportedly working on The Crew 3 , a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising , and several mobile titles, in addition to the numerous productions the firm has previously announced.
