Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, acknowledges that they do not have “a great game for this quarter” and hope to achieve a more constant rate of launching great titles of their own.
Phil Spencer , head of Xbox and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has stopped by the Xbox Era podcast and in his brief speech he has had time to comment on certain details of the company’s near future. In addition to talking about his most anticipated upcoming games, which he’s mentioned Starfield and State of Decay 3 among , he’s also admitted more generally that he’d like to have a somewhat more consistent stream of big game releases than the company has . Today.
“We do have a lot of great games in development…We want to get to this point where there’s a steady flow of great games that are coming, that our customers can predict… we’re going through right now, you know, [and] we don’t have a big game this quarter – so Matt Booty and the teams, and the ZeniMax teams… want to get to that point where we really have a great on-ramp for our platform and games that people can get excited about on a regular basis.”
What projects are the Xbox Game Studios teams working on?
Currently Xbox Game Studios is made up of more than 30 studios after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard (although it has not yet become effective). Of all of them, there are some teams that are working on titles that will be released throughout 2022 , such as the aforementioned Starfield and State of Decay 3 , but also projects like Redfall. If we jump in the calendar and go to 2023, we find expected developments that could be released next year , such as Fable , Perfect Dark , Everwild orHellblade 2: Senua’s Saga , although neither of them have confirmed a release window yet.
